Q. To draw maximum current from a combination of cells, how should the cells be grouped?

  2. Parallel
  3. Mixed
  4. Depends upon the relative values of external and internal resistance
Answer: Parallel

  • In series combination, the maximum current is obtained when the external resistance R is very high as compared to the total internal resistance of the battery.
  • In parallel combination, the maximum current is obtained when the external resistance R is very low as compared to the total internal resistance of the battery.
To draw maximum current from a combination of cells, the grouping of cells depends on the relative values of internal and external resistances.
