Exposure to sunlight helps a person improve his health because

  By GK Planet Team
Q. Exposure to sunlight helps a person improve his health because
  1. the infrared light kills bacteria in the body
  2. resistance power increases
  3. the pigment cells in the skin get stimulated and produce a healthy tan
  4. the ultraviolet rays convert skin oil into Vitamin D
Answer: the ultraviolet rays convert skin oil into Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble secosteroids responsible for increasing intestinal absorption of calcium, magnesium, and phosphate, and multiple other biological effects. In humans, the most important compounds in this group are vitamin D3 (also known as cholecalciferol) and vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol).
When your skin is exposed to sunlight, it makes vitamin D from cholesterol. The sun's ultraviolet B (UVB) rays hit cholesterol in the skin cells, providing the energy for vitamin D synthesis to occur.
Vitamin D is not actually a vitamin. It is a steroid hormone, which is made in the body under the right conditions. However, if the body does not make enough, it can also be obtained from food sources.
