The Indian Council of Agricultural Research established the National Research Centre on Seed Spices at Ajmer during the IX Five–Year–Plan to initiate research work on seed spices especially aimed to improve the productivity and quality with reference to domestic demand and export and value. The centre came into existence on 22 of April, 2000.A number of technologies including varieties, precision nutrient and water management through drip fertigation, protected cultivation, plant protection and post-harvest handling & processing etc. have been developed at NRCSS for improving the production and quality of seed spices.
