Kuka was a religio-political movement in Punjab.The people of Namdhari sect of the Sikhs are also called Kuka.The armed revolt of these people is called by the name of the Kuka revolt.Initially started as a religious movement with a view to reforming the Sikh religion by purging it of the degenerate features, Kuka movement, founded in 1840 in Western Punjab, turned into a political struggle against the British. The founder of Kuka movement was Bhagat Jawahar Mal.
